MATERNITY SESSION PLANNING TIPS

SESSION TIPS
If you’re new to the portrait session game, chances are you may feel a little bit nervous about what to expect. That’s completely natural, so don’t think you’re strange for feeling that way. In fact, we hear from our clients all the time that they’re apprehensive to get their pictures taken for all sorts of reasons, ranging from being “unphotogenic” to feeling awkward in front of the camera and beyond. To help you feel a bit more at ease leading up to the day of your session — and during the actual shoot — we’ve given you some pro tips below.
Chat With US Before The Session
Sometimes simply talking through the process with your photographer can help you feel much more at ease. For starters, we’ll walk you through each step of the session-day process so that you know what to expect. Second, getting to know the person who’s going to be photographing you can help you feel much more relaxed and yourself on the day of.
Be Authentic to Yourself
Have you ever packed for a vacation and decided you were going to bring four different novels and a couple workout outfits even though you rarely read or workout? That same sort of mentality can occur when you’re prepping for a photo session as you try to reinvent who you are. Instead, relax and show up on session day as your authentic self. Wear clothes you feel beautiful and comfortable in — this is all about capturing the essence of pregnancy!
WHAT TO BRING
to your upcoming maternity photoshoot

We recommend bringing a pair of nude thong underwear and a strapless nude bra – these will be perfect for certain set ups with fabrics. And, if you have any other beautiful garments that you feel gorgeous in, please feel free to bring them! However, if your goal is to capture natural portraits or semi-nude images with fabrics, or if you plan to use our studio clothing, don’t worry about bringing anything else. Just remember to pack a strapless bra and nude underwear for best results.

For your partner, we recommend choosing clothing that matches the style of your couples portraits. During your pre-session consultation, we’ll discuss what this might entail. If you’re going for a casual look, some fitted jeans and t-shirts or dress shirts in dark or light tones will do the trick. For a more formal look, opt for a button-down shirt, pants, and shoes.
HOW TO PREPARE
please follow these tips before your session:
01
Treat yourself to a mani/pedi a day or two before your session. Go for natural or pastel shades to keep it classy
02
Come to the studio with clean, dry hair (second day hair is best). If your locks are wild and unruly, tame them with a blow dryer or straightener ahead of time. Make sure to wear a light moisturizer on your face and skip the makeup
03
Avoid tight underwear to prevent any unwanted body marks on the day of your session. Opt for loose clothing to ensure comfort and ease
04
Keep it natural and avoid spray tans, excessive bronzers and shimmery products. Trust us, your natural glow is all you need!
